Am I the Emotionally Disturbed One?
Early on in my psychology studies I learned that modern, successful therapy accepts the premise that humans suffer emotional stress in a way that extends into our society.
We know that chronic stress puts our nervous systems on high alert, distorts our hormones, damages our immunity, increases inflammation and messes us up physically and mentally. Our chronic stress has emotional repercussions too, that extend into our social circles. We all have that family member or friend whose emotional damage affects us. Maybe we are that family member or friend.
