Why Exercise is Crucial These Days
How has your health been lately? Have you noticed your chronic condition or disease is worse in the last few months? How about your anxiety or depression?
My bet is that a lot of us are feeling worse than usual right now. Why? Why are our symptoms worse? Because inflammation in our bodies is rampant right now and inflammation causes our diseases, our conditions and even our emotions to spike in unhealthy ways. Why is inflammation having a field day in our body right now? Because inflammation is the direct result of stress.
A lot of Canadians are feeling stress these past few months. We are feeling like we’re under attack and the country beneath our feet is shifting into fight-or-flight mode.
Not all stress is bad. Stress can actually have positive impacts when we are running away from something or fighting it. Stress, in the form of adrenaline, makes us stronger and faster. But stress that isn’t utilized through physical effort is harmful. Our bodies are suddenly full of stress chemicals with nowhere to go, except to increase inflammation, which increases…stress…which increases pain and disease symptoms.
Physical movement of any kind will help ease those disease, anxiety or depression symptoms as it gives our bodies an outlet for the stress we are feeling.
Exercise as much as you can, for your physical and mental health.
