Chronic Disease, Anxiety and Women

Did you know that women are much more likely to develop chronic disease than men? We are also much more likely to be diagnosed with mental health conditions than men. The gender gap in health is real and women are more likely to suffer from conditions like migraines, fibromyalgia, and autoimmune conditions among others. Depression and anxiety are also much higher among women than among men.

Early on in my blog posts I noted that chronic stress and emotional problems trigger inflammation in the body and this inflammation has been proven to lead to disease and ill health. If we follow this argument of women being more likely to suffer from disease through to its logical conclusion, we can only conclude that women in our society suffer more from chronic stress and emotional problems than men do.

How does this conclusion make you feel about the role of women in our society?
