The Brain, the Big Boss

In the Myth of Normal (2022) Gabor Maté asserts that our brains are the central organ in a supersystem that extends through our body and influences every aspect of that body: from the blood vessels to the contractions of our intestines, the beating of our heart, the manufacture of immune cells, etc, etc. Our brain is in charge of everything and everything functions as one system. Our emotions affect our nerves, our nerves affect our hormones, our hormones affect our immune system and our immune system affects our brain, our brain - our gut and they all affect our heart, which in turn affects them.  So we are an interconnected web of operations in our body. That’s a lot to understand, but Maté goes further. He asserts that our brain, mind and body affect the brains, minds and bodies of other people.
