Laughter as medicine for Anxiety

Stressed? Anxious? Laughter may be the medicine you need. It sounds so simple, maybe even too simple, but laughter has a proven track record when it comes to combatting anxiety. According to Bennett and Lengecker (2006), “The concept that humor or laughter can be therapeutic goes back to biblical times and this belief has received varying levels of support from the scientific community at different points in its history.” Watching a TV comedy, reading a funny book or playing a family game that makes you laugh, can all be really good “medicine” to take when you are feeling anxious.
