Finances
Today I want to talk about finances. Yes, this is a mental health blog. Our financial situation greatly impacts our mental health.
This isn’t the first time in our collective modern Canadian history that we are all under financial pressure from rising prices for everything: food, medicine, shelter, clothing, counselling and more.
As a working member of the counselling profession, I’m very aware of the stresses my clients are under and I know how stressful it is to have to choose where you spend your limited amount of money. It makes matters worse when agencies that people have come to rely on for help with counselling payments, suddenly find their own funding cut and in turn pass those cuts on to the clients that rely on them. Anyone whose counselling is currently funded by FNHA is now affected by a situation like this.
Living Bridges Therapy Collective, of which I am a member, is working hard to help our FNHA clients through this difficult time. On a personal note, I want to assure all of my clients that whether you are funded through FNHA, AgSafe, ICBC, WCB, any other agency or privately; if you are having difficulty financing your mental health please talk to me. We can and will work something out.
