Remembrance Day

While Remembrance Day began as a commemoration of the First World War, we have used this day since then to remember and honour veterans of all wars. Canada is a multi-cultural country and today soldiers from many cultures are remembered in our communities. This act of remembering those who have fallen can be triggering for people who suffer from depression as it brings with it traumatic reminders of friends and family members who were lost off the field of battle as well as on, difficult moments, personal losses and grief over missed time with loved ones. These psychological scars do not heal easily.

Let’s be extra patient with ourselves, our friends and our neighbours today.

If you need to talk to someone about your emotions today, or any other day, you can reach out to me either on this platform or at heidiredlcounselling.ca.
